High-conductivity copper alloys are widely used in high electrical conductivity, high thermal conductivity materials, and electrical fields, the yuan low-voltage electrical equipment, electricity, communications wire, electrical copper and so on. Copper alloys are metal alloys that have copper as their principal component. They have high resistance against corrosion. The similarity in external appearance of the various alloys, along with the different combinations of elements used when making each alloy, can lead to confusion when categorizing the different compositions. The best known traditional types are bronze, where tin is a significant addition, and brass, using zinc instead. Both these are imprecise terms, and today the term copper alloy tends to be substituted, especially by museums.

The following table lists the principal alloying element for four of the more common types used in modern industry, along with the name for each type. Brasses are the most numerous and the most widely used of the copper alloys because of their low cost, easy or inexpensive fabrication and machining and their relative resistance to aggressive environments. Tin bronzes containing more than 10% tin are generally harder and more corrosion resistant than brass and up to 20% tin is often added. So-called phosphor bronzes additionally contain small amounts of phosphorus to further increase hardness and wear resistance; hence, they are often specified for sliding contacts and connectors.
